CDL Training Learn how to drive a truck with CDL training from Advanced Truck School. Classes are offered monthly at Western Nevada College in Fallon and in Carson City. Please check our schedule.
Your first week of training will be in the classroom. There, you will acquire the knowledge you will need to pass your Permit Test. You will continue classroom study throughout the course. You will learn how to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections. You'll learn industry terminology, truck maintenance and safety, and how to post your daily logs and recaps.
Training is hands-on and inter-active, NOT by way of video or casette tapes.
Once you get your permit, we start you on our skills course. You'll learn to successfully maneuver your truck backwards, through a serpentine configuration. You'll also learn the skills of right-hand and left-hand turns. You'll be trained to parallel park your trailer, to properly back into a loading dock, and to back your truck and trailer 100 feet.
In addition, you'll learn to put on chains for icy conditions and you will hook and unhook your truck and trailer daily. You'll learn the many functions that you'll need in order to perform the day-to-day operation of driving a truck.
Your training will be completed when you pass your CDL test, which will be taken at the DMV in, Sparks, Nevada with the truck and trailer you have become comfortable driving, while in training.
